I am aware of the limitations with NTFS clustering and my topic is perhaps a bit of a misnomer, but what I would like to do is distribute the load of a two-node windows file server cluster so that some shares run on one node and other shares run on the
second node, allowing what could be considered active/active. More or less it's just a matter of utilizing the resources of both systems simultaneously.
I am able to configure multiple shares in the cluster but I am unable to figure out how to run some shares on the other node without creating a second end-point and assigning a second cluster name and IP address to it. Is that what needs to be done or am I missing an elementary step here? That seems a little unpractical, especially from a client access perspective as you would have clients pointing to two different names for same shares, depending on what node they are active on.
This is on Windows 2008 R2.
Thanks
