I'm doing a test build of Server 2012 R2 with Scale out File Servers in a Clustered Shared Spaces scenario. I have the DataOn JBOD that is Storage Spaces certified. I have four nics on each SoFS node, two for SMB cluster traffic (SMB1 and SMB2, both RDMA 10G nics) and the other two (1G nics) are teamed on my CorpLan for management (named Cluster_Mgmt). A few questions I have are...
1. Should all 3 networks have DNS registration enabled? In DNS, only the cluster resource name is registered in DNS with the IPs of both nodes on the Cluster_Mgmt network. Should the SMB1/2 networks also be registered in DNS?
2. What is the 'Cluster Use' setting for my 3 networks in Failover Cluster Management? I have SMB1/2 both with "Cluster and Client" communication enabled. Should the Cluster_Mgmt network have NO cluster network traffic on it, or just Cluster traffic, or both Cluster and Client traffic?
I want my HyperV nodes to communicate with my SoFS over the RDMA 10G networks.
Thanks for the guidance. I've been with VMware for years, and I'm enjoying getting to know HyperV...
