We have an external print system for our SAP instance. It's running on 64-bit Windows 2008 R2. It uses local configuration and local mySQL (for configuration).
We want higher availability and are just starting to work with an F5 to try and get failover with it (primary to secondary) if we determine the primary isn't working properly.
We have no need for concurrent access to the configuration and do not want to have any shared storage. The outstanding print requests can be discarded and we'd rather have simplicity of system configuration and operation over no data loss. We can also do a reprint or print a document after the primary is back up.
We're looking for inforomation on how to configuration failover for a scenario like this and aren't haven't any luck. Everything seems to focus on having some form of shared storage.
Can't it be done without the shared storage?
Careful with that VAX Eugene
