Operating System 2008 r2
I have a two node cluster at the moment failover is routine– there are two nodes so all VMs failover from the failed host to the other. I am proposing the addition of a third node because we are experiencing performance issues around CPU and RAM due to over allocation. The new design will have 3 nodes - 2 will be identicle (DL360 Gen 6) a third will be a DL360 Gen 8. What can I implement to from a technical perspective to ensure the failover balances the load across the two remaining hosts evenly and doesn’t result in the two remaining nodes in the cluster being unevenly distributed from a VM perspective. One host having most of the hosts and the other with hardly any. This failover process needs to address RAM, CPU and networking. VMware has a distributed resource schedluar that would manage this for you . Is there any thisng of this nature with vmare and if not what does 2008 r2 have to manage this type of issue.
