I have two Server 2012 Nodes (Dell R620s) running a Hyper-V Cluster using CSVs on a Dell PS4100 SAN.
Each Node has 256GB of Memory, and currently each node only runs two Virtual Machines with Assigned Memory values totalling 40GB (No Dynamic Memory whatsoever). The VMs in question are Server 2008 R2 VMs, one of which has 32GB assigned, and the other has
8GB.
As of this moment one of the node 1 has approximately 210GB free as expected. Node 2 has completely maxed out it's memory use!!! All 256GB of memory is in use at once. I have experienced this issue with this cluster before and passed it off as a one-off
glitch. When experiencing the issue before the node 1 had memory maxed out, so the issue is not related to a particular node.
Taskmgr from the host doesn't show any processes with high memory use:
So it would appear that the memory is being "consumed" by the hypervisor. It's as if there's a phantom VM consuming all of the memory. Any Suggestions? How do I narrow down where the memory is being consumed or where the memory leak is? Has anyone
seen this before?
Thanks!
